Born in 1894 in Simbirsk in a teaching family. In 1917 he received a diploma from Kazan University , after which he remained engaged in scientific activities at the university [3] .
In 1919 he moved to Irkutsk , where he took the post of assistant at the newly created Irkutsk State University, in 1927 he became an assistant professor [3] .
In 1923 he became one of the organizers of the creation of the Biological and Geographical Research Institute at the University, in 1925 he became the head of the University Biological Station in the village of Bolshie Koty on the shore of Lake Baikal [2] .
In 1932, after receiving a professorship, he headed the Department of Botany, which he headed until 1945. In 1932 he became the first dean [1] of the biological faculty of Irkutsk State University [3] .
All scientific studies of Yasnitsky are associated with the study of zooplankton and phytoplankton of Lake Baikal . He became the first scientist to establish regular observations of the level and state of plankton in the lake since 1926, the first to receive information on seasonal changes in the amount of plankton, and the effect of its distribution on the omul population [2] . He is the creator of a scientific school for the study of zoo- and phytoplankton of Lake Baikal [2] .
He died in 1945 in Irkutsk.
