Tallinn 1983 is the eighth of a series of international tournaments held in Soviet times in the capital of the Estonian SSR . This is the fourth Tallinn tournament, bearing the status of the memorial of P.P. Keres .
The tournament was held in February - March 1983.
As in most previous tournaments, 16 chess players (9 Soviet and 7 foreigners) participated in this competition. 6 participants had the title of grandmaster .
Another victory in the Tallinn tournament was won by ex-world champion M.N. Tal. This time the 1st place was shared by Yerevan grandmaster R. A. Vaganyan.
