Tallinn 1977 is the fifth of a series of international tournaments held in Soviet times in the capital of the Estonian SSR . This is the first Tallinn tournament to bear the status of the P. P. Keres Memorial .
The tournament was held in February - March 1977.
As in most previous tournaments, 16 chess players participated in this competition (9 Soviet and 7 foreigners). 9 participants had the title of grandmaster .
The third victory in the Tallinn tournament was won by ex-world champion M.N. Tal.
The main arbitrator is Lembit Vahesaar (USSR).
