Description

Small earth ants; length of workers is about 3 mm. It differs from closely related species ( Tetramorium intermedium , Tetramorium flavithorax ) in the short length of the scape of the antenna (SI 65 - 70) and 3 or 4 longitudinal grooves of the chest. The length of the head of the workers (HL) 0.45-0.51 mm, the width of the head (HW) 0.42-0.48 mm. The main body color is brown, the antennae and legs are lighter. On the dorsum of the mesosomes, distinct longitudinal grooves. They have deep antennal grooves and a smooth smooth upper part of the head. The antennae of workers and females are 11-segmented. The petiol is scaly in profile with a high nodule (about 3 times higher than the length, transverse and elliptical from above). Antennal grooves well developed, long. The lateral parts of the clypeus are keeled raised near the attachment point of the antennae. Wide -angled mandibles with serrated chewing margin. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, pupae are naked (without cocoon ). Posterothorax with 2 acute propodeal spines. The abdomen is smooth and shiny. Nest in the ground [1] [2] .

Taxonomy

It is included in the species complex Tetramorium muralti species complex as part of the species group Tetramorium weitzeckeri . The species was first described in 2010 by American worldmecologists Francisco Hita Garcia , Brian L. Fisher ; Entomology, California Academy of Sciences , San Francisco , California , USA ) and M. Peters ( Bonn , Germany ) [1] [2] .
