Rudesh was founded in 1957 and spent most of its history in the lower leagues. In 2003, he won the Zagreb Division of the Fourth League and entered the Third League. There Rudes played six years, and in 2009, having won the West division, he won a place in the Second League.

In the 2009/10 season , Rudes made his debut in the second most important league in Croatia, eventually finishing in the middle of the standings. In subsequent years, the team invariably finished the championship among the leaders of the Second League. In the 2016/17 season , Rudesh became the winner of the Second League, thereby achieving a historic entry into the First League. In May 2017, the club signed a partnership agreement with the Spanish Alaves , in which Rudes played the role of the farm club of the Spanish participant. But a year later it was terminated [1] .

On July 16, 2017, the Zagreb club made its debut in the elite of Croatian football, having played a draw (1: 1) with Osijek on the road. The first goal in the league at Rudes scored by Carlo Kamenar . A month later, the team won the first victory in the First League, at home with a minimum score, defeating Istra 1961 [2] . Rudesh played the role of the championship outsider for a long time, but by the end of the championship they gave a successful segment with impressive victories at the split Hajduk, Rieka and Zagreb Dynamo, which allowed him to finish in a safe eighth place.
