Boris Rufimovich Gelfand ( May 11, 1942 - April 18, 2017 ) - Soviet and Russian resuscitator, academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (2011), academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2013).

Content

Biography

He was born on May 11, 1942 in Tashkent [2] .

In 1965 - graduated from the First Moscow Medical Institute named after I.M.Sechenov .

In 1970, he defended his PhD, and in 1986, his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Septic shock”, which to this day is one of the fundamental works on the diagnosis and treatment of surgical sepsis for doctors of many specialties [1] .

He headed the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology of the Russian State Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov , and in combination he was a professor at the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology of the Moscow Medical Academy named after I.M.Sechenov .

In 2005 - was elected a corresponding member of RAMS .

In 2011 - was elected an academician of RAMS.

In 2013, he became an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (as part of the accession of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences).

He died on April 18, 2017 in Moscow [2] .

Scientific activity

Specialist in the field of anesthesiology and intensive care.

He made a great contribution to the study of sepsis and septic shock, a pioneer in the development of these areas of anesthesiology and intensive care, the creator of a scientific school.

The author of more than 720 scientific publications, including 36 monographs.

Under his leadership, 18 doctoral and 65 master's theses were defended.

Vice President of the Russian Association of Specialists in Surgical Infections, Member of the Presidium of the Board of the Federation of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators of the Russian Federation, Member of the Board of the All-Russian Society of Surgeons.
