Biography
Born in 1979 in Vinnitsa . His father, Mikhail Grigorievich - is a career officer, colonel of the headquarters of the military aviation in Vinnitsa; mother - Anna Fedoseevna worked as an engineer at the Vinnitsa plant, both grandfathers participated in the Great Patriotic War . Eugene has an older sister Olga and twin brother Michael. From the 1st grade, together with his brother, he was engaged in swimming, wrestling, music - they played the trumpet. 1996, after graduating from Vinnytsia school number 30, together they entered the State Border Service Academy , which is located in Khmelnitsky . After graduation, they served in different units.
He served in various positions in the Peschansky district of the Vinnitsa region , Odessa , in Boryspil , in the Sumy region , in Kharkov , where he headed the department at the railway station. On the account of the officer exposing the smuggling of clothes for 2.5 million hryvnias, historical values, icons, preventing the smuggling of a small child. For successes in the service in the order of career growth, he was transferred to the management apparatus, ahead of schedule received the rank of lieutenant colonel .

- April 26, 2018 - “for the exceptional personal courage and heroism shown in protecting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, fidelity to the military oath” , was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Golden Star Order (posthumous) [4].
- September 8, 2014 - “for personal courage and heroism shown in the protection of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine” , he was awarded the Order for Courage III degree (posthumous) [1] .
- August 21, 2014 - “for personal courage and heroism shown in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, fidelity to the military oath, highly professional performance of official duty” , - was awarded the medal “For Military Service to Ukraine” [2] .
- October 1, 2016 - non-state award order “People's Hero of Ukraine” (posthumous, 19th award ceremony., City of Mirgorod ) [3] .
- He was awarded departmental awards - medals “For courage in protecting the state border of Ukraine” and “15 years of the State Border Service of Ukraine”.
Memory
- March 20, 2015 in Vinnitsa , on the facade of secondary school No. 30 named after Taras Shevchenko opened the memorial plaque of the school graduate Eugene Picus [4] ..
- In August 2015, a memorial sign to the border guards who died on August 25, 2014 was unveiled at the Krasnaya Talovka border guard department in the Stanichno-Lugansk region. The sketches of the monument were made by a Lithuanian artist, volunteer Beata Kulak [5] .
- On April 29, 2016, by decision No. 246 of the 7th session of the 7th convocation of the Vinnitsa City Council, Papanina Street was renamed Evgenia Pikus Street [6] [7] .
