Biography

Daniil Kramer was born in Kharkov in the family of a teacher and a doctor. Parents gave their son to Kharkov Secondary Special Music School (piano class E.V. Iolis). The talent of the young pianist was soon noted at the Republican contest, where fifteen-year-old Daniel not only received the First Prize as a performer, but also won the Second Prize as a composer. Soon he continued his education at the Gnesins' Moscow Academy as a pianist of an academic direction, Professor E. Ya. Liberman became Kramer’s teacher [1] .

In parallel, Kramer began to seriously engage in jazz and in 1982 received the first prize at the piano jazz improvisation competition in Vilnius (Lithuania).

In 1985 - 1986 , Daniil Kramer became the soloist of the Moscow State Philharmonic and the soloist of the Moskontsert . Kramer participates in all domestic jazz festivals and tours across European countries, including Austria , Hungary , Germany , Italy , Spain , Poland , Czechoslovakia , Finland , France , Sweden , as well as in the USA , countries of Central and South America , Africa . He visited both Australia and China .

Teaching

In 1983, Daniil Kramer graduated from the Gnesins Academy , the period of his teaching activities at the Gnesins School began.

Kramer said: “The teacher must play well”

In 1997, a series of jazz music lessons was shown on the ORT channel, and the video cassette “Jazz Lessons with Daniil Kramer” was released under the general title “Modern Jazz of Russia”.

Daniel Kramer likes to repeat the phrase of G. G. Neigauz :

"You can do whatever you want, the main thing is to be convincing." And adds:

“Persuasiveness is one of the most important secrets of art. But the word persuasiveness is the top of the pyramid, which can be reached only after passing through the fundamental structures that are craftsmanship : technique, sound knowledge, shape and carcass.

Analysis , harmony , solfeggio - these are giant pyramidal layers that taper up and lead to craftsmanship. Only then does understanding come - what is art. ”
