Franich, Ivan

Ivan Franić ( Croatian Ivan Franić ; born February 27, 1939 , Zagreb ) is a Croatian architect.

He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Zagreb (1963). In 1964-1973 and 1978-1983. worked in various Zagreb design institutes, in 1973-1977. conducted research at the Institute of Civil Engineering of Croatia, in 1977-1978. Trained in Denmark. In 1983-1987 Director of the Engineering and Construction Association Industrogradnja . In 1987, he founded and led the design association Plan .

Despite the fact that in general Franich specialized in designing industrial facilities, his most famous work is the Catholic Cathedral of the Virgin Mary in Mostar : the Franich project (in collaboration with his wife Hildegard Auf-Franich) won the competition in five other five Yugoslav architects in 1972, construction was completed in 1980. In addition, Franich owns the projects of the Kartonplast factory in Ploce , several oil refinery facilities in Bosanski Brod , the warehouse of the Konzum trading company in the Zagreb district of Zhitnyak, etc. In the 1990s.
