Biography

Born in 1903 in the Trans-Baikal region in a peasant large family, had 8 brothers and sisters. In 1911 and 1912 he occasionally studied in a rural school, most of the time he helped his father in rural work.

In 1918, during the Civil War, he fought on the side of the Bolsheviks , and with his father joined the partisan detachment operating in Transbaikalia . In 1919, the father and sibling were captured by the White Guards and executed. Gorlachev remained in the detachment until 1920 [1] .

In 1920, he volunteered for the regional department of the OGPU, where he served as a shooter. In 1921, through negligence, he was injured, as a result of which his right leg was amputated. For 2 years he was treated at a hospital in Chita .

From 1922 to 1923 he studied at the Far East regional co-art school of the second level in Chita, received his education in the specialty of “Cultural Enlightener”. Until 1932, he held various party posts in the Chita district.

In 1932 he was sent to obtain higher education in Leningrad , where he studied at the All-Union Communist Agricultural University (Komvuz). I.V. Stalin . After graduation, he was enrolled in graduate school and sent to work at the Institute of the Red Professor where he studied and at the same time where he lectured on the history of the CPSU (b) and Leninism in railway and agricultural institutes [1] .

In 1938, after the liquidation of the IKP, Siberia left, where he worked in the Novosibirsk regional committee of the CPSU (b), was in charge of the agitation section, and in June 1938 he was removed from the regional committee after the arrest of his wife's father.

In July 1938, by a decision of the party, he was sent to work in Tomsk , where he was appointed director (rector) of Tomsk University . In 1941, the university was given the difficult task of training personnel in the shortest possible time of war . Educational programs were revised in the conditions of a shortage of teaching staff, evening education of students employed in factory work, a shortage of material resources and other difficulties of the war. However, despite this, Gorlachev managed to maintain the work of the university. The scientific activity of the university was fully focused on the needs of the country's defense industry [1] .

After the war, he made a significant contribution to the restoration of the university.

In 1950, he defended his dissertation at the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks in Moscow .

From 1950 to 1956 he worked as vice-rector of the Ural University. A. M. Gorky [1] .

Awards: Order of the Badge of Honor (1944); Medal "For Labor Valor" (1953); Medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" (1946) [2] .

He died on June 1, 1956 in Sverdlovsk. He was buried at the Ivanovo cemetery .
