The Indian egg snake , or Indian egg-eater [1] ( lat. Elachistodon westermanni ), is a species of snakes from the family of the same that lives in Asia . The only representative of the genus of Indian egg snakes [1] , or Indian egg-eaters [1] ( Elachistodon ). The species name is given in honor of Gerard Westerman [2] .

DescriptionThe total length reaches 78–84 cm. The head is small, the body is slender, elongated, compressed laterally. The eyes are large, the pupils are vertical. There are posterior furrowed teeth in the upper jaw. The color is dark olive, brown and black. In the middle of the spine, the scales are yellow. A yellow streak runs through the middle of the black head. The lips are yellow. The belly is white with dark spots.
LifestyleInhabits rocky places with shrubs , mountain forests . Climbing trees well. Active at night, feeds on eggs of birds and reptiles.
ReproductionThis is an egg laying snake. The female lays up to 12 eggs.
DistributionIt lives in northern and western India , Nepal and Bangladesh .
