Biography
Born on January 29, 1938 in the city of Baku, the capital of the Azerbaijan SSR.
He graduated from the Baku Musical College named after Asaf Zeynalli (1959) and the Azgosonservatory (1965). He studied under J. Mamedov, V. A. Knyazkov and A. Abdullaev.
Since 1959, he was a nagarist, later a harmonist of the Khatira folk instrument ensemble under the direction of Akhsan Dadashev, since 1965 he was a soloist of the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra, a symphony orchestra, the Dan Ulduzu instrumental ensemble under the direction of Gyulara Aliyeva, Honored Collective of the Azerbaijan SSR Folk Instrument Orchestra Azgosteleradio.
He teaches at the Republican Gymnasium of Arts.

Creativity
In the repertoire of Kamil Jalilov, along with Western European and Russian music, an important place is occupied by the works of Azerbaijani composers - Arif Melikov, Tofig Kuliev, Fikret Amirov and many others. But a less important role in his repertoire is played by Azerbaijani folk songs and mugams. In the performance of an oboe player, classic and folk art complement each other, he professionally owns his instrument, adding to the folk art an unusual oboe timbre and a virtuoso technique of playing it. Jalilov’s performance is highly appreciated by listeners from all over the world, outstanding Soviet and foreign musicians and educators.
Kamil Jalilov toured with concerts in many countries - including Sweden, Lebanon, Algeria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, France.
The melody “Chargeah Ahengi” performed by Jalilov was awarded the first place in the festival of the IV International Tribune of Asian countries (1976, Manila, Philippines), after which it was highly praised by UNESCO. In 1977, “Chargakh akhengi” was recorded on a balaban on All-Union Radio, after which this recording was included in the famous Voyager Gold plate called “ Mugam ”.
With the music of the oboist, records and discs have been released.
The poems of famous poets Ziver Agaeva, Zelimkhan Yakub, Bagadur Haker, Agasefa Yahyaev, oboe concert with the orchestra of the Dagestan composer Magomed Huseynov, the television documentary “Kamil” (2001) are dedicated to Kamil Jalilov.
