Description
Both engines are based on the same modular platform, however, the M260 engine is laterally mounted (for front-wheel drive models), and the M264 is longitudinal (for rear-wheel drive models). They both use two camshafts and 4 valves per cylinder, a two-stroke turbocharger, and particulate filters. M264 engines also have variable valve timing on the intake shaft and an additional 48-volt on-board network to power the electric water pump and built-in starter generator.
