Ostrovets cemetery (in official documents - Ostrovtsy cemetery) - inter-settlement cemetery of the Ramensky district. Located in the village of Ostrovtsy near Turaevsky highway.

History
Opened for burial in 1971 after closing for free burial of the Bykovsky memorial cemetery in the city of Zhukovsky on the basis of a village graveyard existing at least from the 13th century [1] . The cemetery is divided into 57 plots [2] and covers an area of 21.3 hectares [3] . The cemetery is fenced around the perimeter. In the depths of the cemetery is located the original village cemetery, marked on the plan-scheme of the necropolis. The Ostrovets cemetery is also adjacent to the 2 hectare burial site of Lytkarino, also called the Ostrovets cemetery [3] . Near the cemetery is located built in the early 2000s. wooden chapel of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary [4] . For many years, the Ostrovets inter-settlement cemetery has been the main burial place for deceased residents of the city of Zhukovsky and the adjacent urban-type villages: Udelnaya, Bykovo, Ilyinsky and Kratovo. Here are buried 10 Heroes of the Soviet Union, 2 Heroes of the Russian Federation, 2 Heroes of Socialist Labor (see the list of those buried in the cemetery), honored test pilots of the USSR and the Russian Federation, representatives of scientific and creative intelligentsia. By 2013, the cemetery territory was almost completely filled and by the Decree of the head of the administration of the Ramensky municipal district of July 23, 2013 the Ostrovets inter-settlement cemetery was closed for free burial due to the full use of the allotted territory and the impossibility of further expansion [5] .
