The IBM 5110 is a desktop laptop computer released in January 1978, three years before the IBM PC . In February 1980, the IBM 5120 was announced.

When the IBM PC (1981) was released, it was originally identified as the IBM 5150. Thus, it was placed in the 5100 series, although its architecture was not a direct descendant of the IBM 5100.
Options
It was produced in three versions:
- IBM 5110 Model 1 (with built-in cartridge cartridge reader (QIC) DC300 204 kb).
- IBM 5110 Model 2 (without a QIC cassette reader, but with the ability to connect a drive).
- The IBM 5110 Model 3 was developed as the IBM 5120 (with a built-in 8-inch drive to read 1.2 MB floppy disks ).
