History and Description
The station was opened on August 11, 1984 [1] .
It is named for its location on Pushkinskaya Street and is dedicated to the memory and work of A.S. Pushkin .
The station has access to the Law Academy and the hostel "Giant". Pedagogical and road universities, NTU "KhPI" , a number of scientific and medical institutions are also located nearby. Near the station, a number of bus routes begin connecting this area with Pavlovsky Pole, Alekseevka and Pyatikhatki.
The design of the station is a deep-laid pylon (laying depth - 35 meters).
The architecture of the station reflects the theme associated with the name of the great poet, involuntarily reminding us of the architecture of palaces and theaters of Pushkin’s times. Facing pylons in the form of falling folds of matter, white marble walls against a background of dark gray floors, decorative ventilation grilles, gilded lamps recreate the interiors of the beginning of the century before last. The composition of the station hall is completed by the poet’s classic profile framed by a laurel wreath
Decorative compositions from relief elements on the themes “Pushkin in Ukraine” and “Pushkin's Creativity” complete the picture. Made of bronze, earthenware, wrought metal, they are placed on the walls of the lobby and platform. The name of the station on the trip walls also consists of gilded capital letters stylized as the interior of the station.
The Pushkinskaya station is the deepest station in the Kharkov metro .
