Club career

At the age of six, Chakvetadze began training at the Norchi Dynamoeli club with coach Tamaz Kostava . In 2010, George was transferred to the Academy of the capital “Dynamo” . In 2014, he, together with the club team until the age of 15, became the champion of Georgia in his age category [2] , and the next season he played for the Dynamo back-up team. In November 2015, even before his debut in the main team, Chakvetadze signed a new contract with the club for three years [3] .

Chakvetadze began to be attracted to the games for the main Dynamo roster in 2016. He made his debut in the championship of Georgia on November 18 at the age of seventeen, having replaced in the Tbilisi derby with Lokomotiv [4] . In the first season, George played only five matches for Dynamo, but in 2017 he became the main player in the team. On April 5, in a match with Chikhura , he scored his first goal on a professional level [5] . In total, in his second season, Chakvetadze played 24 matches, scored 5 goals and gave 9 assists. Clubs from Western Europe drew attention to him [6] .

In August 2017, Chakvetadze joined the Belgian club Gent for 1.5 million euros [6] . In addition, under the terms of the deal, the Tbilisi club received the right to half the proceeds from the future sale of a football player [7] . It was reported that Munich “Bavaria” was also interested in the Georgian football player at that time, but was late with its proposal [8] . According to the president of Dynamo Tbilisi Roman Pipia, George was also interested in Liverpool , Manchester United , Manchester City , Tottenham , Hoffenheim and Bayer [7] . At first, in Ghent, Chakvetadze was a substitute, he rarely got into the club’s application. His debut in the Belgian championship took place on October 1, 2017 in a match with Brugge , in which he replaced [9] . The next time, Georgy played for the club only on January 21, 2018, having received a place in the squad at the match with Lokeren due to injuries of Moises Simon and Brecht Deyager . Replacing, he scored a goal [10] . At the beginning of 2018, Tottenham's interest in Chakvetadze was again reported, as well as the Donetsk Shakhtar [1] [11] . After the high level shown in the match with Lokeren, the Georgian gained the confidence of coach Yves Vanderhage and played regularly in the second half of the 2017/2018 season, including in the playoffs of the Belgian championship.

Team appearances

In August 2017, Chakvetadze was included by coach Vladimir Weiss in the expanded composition of the Georgian national team [12] . However, in the final application for matches with Ireland and Austria, he did not end up in the end. George made his debut on March 24, 2018 in a friendly match with the Lithuanian team [13] . In this game, he entered the field from the first minutes and scored a goal. September 6, Chakvetadze scored a goal in a match with the national team of Kazakhstan .
