David Macmillan ( David William Cross MacMillan ; born 1968, Belshill, Scotland) is a British-American organic chemist , an expert in organic synthesis [1] , a pioneer in the field of asymmetric organic catalysis [2] . Honored University Professor at Princeton University, a member of the Royal Society of London (2012) and the National Academy of Sciences of the USA (2018) [3] , a member of the Edinburgh Royal Society (2013) [2] .

Biography

He graduated from the University of Glasgow (Bachelor of Chemistry, 1991). Doctoral research conducted under the supervision of Professor at the University of California, Irvine (since 1990) and was a postdoc with Professor at Harvard University (since 1996). He began his own career in 1998 at the University of California at Berkeley. In 2000, he moved to the California Institute of Technology, since 2004 he has been named Professor ( Earle C. Anthony Professor ) of Chemistry. Since 2006, named professor ( A. Barton Hepburn Professor ) at the Department of Chemistry, Princeton University, in 2010—2015. He headed this department, now named Honored University Professor of Chemistry ( James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry ). Research Consultant Merck, Amgen, Biogen Biopharma, Abbvie Research Laboratories, Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals, UCB-Celtech, Constellation Pharmaceuticals, Gilead Research Laboratories , Member of the Scientific Advisory Boards of Firmenich (Switzerland) and Kadmon Pharmaceuticals (USA). Co-founder of Chiromics LLC [4] .
