Richard (Richard) Bergman ( German English Richard Bergmann , April 10, 1919 - April 5, 1970) - Austrian and English table tennis player, multiple world champion, multiple champion of England. Jewish by nationality [2] . One of the greatest players in the history of table tennis.

Biography
Born in 1919 in Vienna , in a Polish-Italian family. He was fond of table tennis since childhood and already in 1937 won the gold medal of the World Championship in singles, for a long time becoming the youngest champion in the history of table tennis (this record was broken only in 2004). After Austria was annexed by Germany in 1938, he moved to England.
During the Second World War, he worked for the Royal Air Force of Great Britain, serving as a translator during interrogation of prisoners (he spoke German, Italian, Dutch, French and Polish). In 1946 he became a British citizen.
In 1982, the name of Richard Bergman was included in the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame .
