Name Origin

The “Razgulay” tavern was located on the site of the current house No. 38 along Old Basmannaya Street. The name “Razgulay” was established in the official language no later than the 1750s , and the tavern itself was on the Pokrovskaya Road back in the 17th century and existed until 1860 [1] .

In front of the city, they have a generally accessible circle, famous for drinking, and not always noble; however, with the inherent pleasures of Muscovites. It is customary for them to allocate a place to squabble not in Moscow itself or the suburbs, but on the field, so that not everyone would see the outrages and swearing of a drunkard ... [1]

History

The square on the arrow of Old and New Basmannaya took shape in the second half of the 17th century, with the foundation of the Captain's Sloboda (modern New Basmannaya Street ). At the end of the XVII century the family of J. W. Bruce settled on Razgulyay; on the site of Bryusov’s house, in the estate of Count A. I. Musin-Pushkin , in the fire of 1812 the original “ Words on Igor's Campaign ” was killed.

In 1979, the north side of Roaming was demolished; deep in the quarter behind New Basmannaya, the building of the CPSU district committee and the wasteland in front of it arose, and in the 1990s an office building was built along the red line of New Basmannaya.

On October 14, 2015, a monument to the Seventh Bauman division of the national militia was unveiled on the square (authors - Z. K. Tsereteli and M. M. Posokhin ) [2] .
