The 61st annual Grammy Awards ceremony took place on February 10, 2019 at the Staples Center , Los Angeles (USA) [1] [2] . The best recordings, compositions and performers of the last conditional year, which was calculated from October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018, had the right to participate in the nomination and award ceremony [3] . The host of the ceremony was Alisha Keyes [4] [5] .

Two major prizes, Record of the Year and Song of the Year , went to Childish Gambino for the single “ This Is America ”.
Casey Musgraves won 4 statuettes, including winning the main nomination: Album of the Year for Golden Hour .
The British singer Dua Lipa won the Best New Artist .
Kendrick Lamar received the most nominations (eight), but won only one.
Singer Dolly Parton was awarded the Person of the Year MusiCares , a special award established by the academy to "provide medical care to needy musicians." The award ceremony took place during the Grammy Week with a tribute concert aimed at raising money for the MusiCares foundation [6] .
The nominations were announced on December 7, 2018 (the original plans for December 5 were canceled due to mourning events in connection with the death of President George W. Bush ) [2] [7] .
The largest number of nominations received: Kendrick Lamar (8), Drake (7), Boi-1da (6), Brandy Carlisle (6), Lady Gaga (5), Cardi Bi (5), Maren Morris (5), Childish Gambino ( 5), Mike Bozzi (5), Post Malone (5), Sounwave (5), HER (5) [8] .
The largest number of awards were given to Childish Gambino (4 statuettes, including two main ones), Casey Musgraves (4), as well as Brandy Carlisle (3), John Daversa (3), Lady Gaga (3) and Ludwig Joransson (3) [9] .
The track “ This Is America ” performed by Childish Gambino became the first rap song in history to win the Best Record of the Year and Best Song of the Year category [10] .

2019 Changes
For the 61st Grammy Awards, the organizers announced several changes in the selection of winners and the structure of some categories [11] .
- In the category of four main awards (including Best Record of the Year , Best Album of the Year , Best Song of the Year and Best New Artist ), the number of nominees in each of them was increased from 5 to 8.
- The Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media category will also include music supervisors (organizers). Also, those who participated in the production of at least half of the album's recordings will be considered its producer.
- The Best Surround Sound Album Award will be renamed Best Immersive Audio Album .
