Biography
Yakov Biyata was born in 1921 in the village of Bogatyr (now Velikonovoselkovsky district , Donetsk region , Ukraine ). In 1939 he graduated from high school and entered a technical school. Since September 1940 he served in the Red Army . Since July 1941, he participated in the Great Patriotic War , took part in the defense of Kiev and the battle for Moscow. November 7, 1941 participated in the parade on Red Mercy. In December 1942 he was wounded, after recovering, he took the position of platoon commander of the 1898th self-propelled artillery regiment. Participated in battles in Germany. He was discharged with the rank of lieutenant and returned to the Donetsk region.
He worked as the manager of the branch and secretary of the party organization of the state farm "New Donbass", and since 1953 he was its chairman. After enlarging and combining the three collective farms into one, he received the name of V.I. Lenin, which he led. The collective farm had 3522 hectares of agricultural land, including 2852 hectares of arable land. The lands had a low level of fertility, mainly loam, with a strongly dissected relief. Actively contributed to the expansion of irrigated land, whose area reached 720 hectares by 1971, organized erosion control works. 39 waterproof shafts, 6 land and 11 stone dams, three spillways were built. In 1970, the collective farm, despite adverse weather conditions, received 24.8 centners of grain and 18.2 centners of sunflower per hectare, 20 centners of barley. By 1970, milk production increased by 10 tons, and the number of pigs increased to 1296 (instead of 750 in 1966). On April 8, 1971, "for the outstanding successes achieved in the development of agricultural production and the fulfillment of the five-year plan for the sale of agricultural and livestock products to the state," he was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor . He served as chairman of the collective farm until his retirement.
