I equestrian rifle cohort of the Apameans ( Latin: Cohors I Apamenorum sagittariorum equitata ) - an auxiliary unit of the army of Ancient Rome, belonging to the type Cohors quingenaria equitata .
Apparently, the cohort was recruited from the residents of the Syrian city of Apamea . The unit was probably located in the province of Cappadocia from the beginning of the 80s of the 1st century. For the first time, the cohort is mentioned in a military diploma dated 99 year. The diploma lists a cohort of troops stationed in Cappadocia. Obviously, she did not participate in the campaign of Arrian against the Alans in 135, since he does not mention her in his work about this event.
Until 144, the cohort was transferred to Egypt . The first mention of it in this province is contained in a military diploma from 157/161. A number of diplomas from the years 179–206 indicate that the cohort was in Egypt. The last time she is mentioned in Notitia Dignitatum . At that time, the cohort was stationed in Silili and enlisted in the army under the leadership of the Dux of Thebaid. At different times, the unit could be located in the Egyptian cities of Nikopol and Philadelphia.
