Ultramarine marshmallow [1] [2] ( Favonius ultramarinus ) is a species of day butterflies from the family Lycaenidae (Lycaenidae).

Description
The length of the front wing of butterflies of this species is 20–22 mm [2] . Wingspan 32–40 mm. Females are generally somewhat larger than males. The front wings of males are greenish-bluish in color, brilliantly sparkling. A black dark border with a width of about 1 mm runs along the upper side of the wings. On top of the front wing, the black border in the rear corner forms a small extension. The upper side of the hind wings in males is brownish with a slightly pronounced purple tint, as well as with a brown border with a width of 2 to 3 mm. The outer edge of the hind wing has small teeth. Hind wings with tail about 4 mm long. The color of the upper side of the wings of the female is brownish brown. On its front wing there is a small orange-colored spot with fuzzy blurry borders, above the top of the central cell with bluish-lilac scales. The underside of the wings of both sexes is yellowish-gray in color [1] .
Range
An Asian species whose range covers the territory of Russia (South Primorye - Khasan region ), Japan , the Korean Peninsula , and Northeast China [2] .
Biology
Ultramarine marshmallow for a year develops in one generation. The flight time of butterflies of this species lasts from mid-July to the end of August. Butterflies are rare. The caterpillar feeds and develops on the serrated oak ( Quercus serrata ) [1] [2] .
