The French territory of Afar and Issa ( French: Territoire français des Afars et des Issas ) is the overseas territory of France , the administrative center is the city of Djibouti , which existed from 1967 to 1977 . It was named after the main population of the colony: the Afar and Issa peoples. It ceased to exist in 1977 after the departure of the French colonialists .

History
After gaining independence from the French Republic - the Republic of Djibouti .
Until 1967, the territory was called the French coast of Somalia ( fr. Côte française des Somalis ). In 1977, a referendum was held on the withdrawal of French troops and the colonial administration, as a result 99.8% of voters voted for secession from France , after which the French Territory Afarov and Issa ceased to exist, and the Republic of Djibouti appeared in its place with President Hassan Guled Guled , who supported and agitated the population of the territory to secede from France .
