The length of the front wing of males is 14-21 mm, females 19-22 mm. Wingspan 30-40 mm. The male and female are painted on the upper side of the wings in a light orange-yellow color. Hind wings with tail. Filamentous fringing of the outer edge of the wings and a thin black tail of black color. In females, a slight blackout is distinguished at the apex of the fore wing, as well as a black spot above the tail. Hind wings below with numerous brown bandages, broken by light veins into separate spots. The eyes are bare. The front legs of the males are segmented [1] [2] .

One generation is developing in a year. Flight time from mid-July to late August [2] [1] . Butterflies are rare. The caterpillar develops on the Mongolian oak ( Quercus mongolica ) [1] . The caterpillar is light green with a sharp brown tuber on the back in the form of a crest. Pupils on the underside of the sheet [2] . Dolly is green.
