Biography

She was born on November 6, 1962 in the village of Alekseevskoye in a Russian family.

  • In 1981 she graduated from Krivoy Rog Secondary School No. 86.
  • In 1984, she graduated from the 3rd year of the Dnepropetrovsk Civil Engineering Institute and transferred to the Moscow Aviation Institute with the loss of one course.
  • In 1988, she graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute with the qualification of a systems engineer with a degree in Flight Dynamics and Control.
  • From May 31, 1988 - engineer of the 178th department, from December 21, 1989 - the 103rd department, from May 1, 1990 - the 33rd department. Since November 1, 1990 - Mathematical Engineer of the 33rd Department of NPO Energia. Developed design documentation and software for scientific equipment of OS Mir .

Service in the cosmonaut corps

  • In 1993, she passed a medical commission at the Institute of Biomedical Problems (BMI) and received admission from the Main Medical Commission (GMK) to special trainings. April 1, 1994 by decision of the State Interdepartmental Commission (GMVK) was selected to the cosmonaut RSC Energia.
  • On June 16, 1994, by order of the State Committee of the Defense Industry No. 169, she was appointed to the post of candidate test cosmonaut for the cosmonaut team of RSC Energia (Department 291).
  • From the summer of 1994 to April 1996 she underwent general space training at the Yu.A. Gagarin CPC . On April 25, 1996, after passing tests, the Interdepartmental Qualification Commission (ICRC) awarded the qualification of a test cosmonaut.
  • On June 13, 1996, by order of the General Director of RCA No. 83, she was appointed to the post of test cosmonaut of the cosmonaut corps RSC Energia (Department 291).
  • In June-September 1996 she was trained as part of a group of cosmonauts under the Mir OS program.
  • From October 1996 to July 1997 she was trained as part of a group of cosmonauts under the ISS program.
  • On July 28, 1997, by the decision of the GMVK, it was approved by the flight engineer of the main crew of the 1st Russian expedition to visit the ISS (for the purpose of testing the Soyuz TMA spacecraft and replacing the Soyuz transport spacecraft - the ISS-Taxi (ISS-T) program) together with Talgat Musabaev .
  • From August 1997 to November 1998 she underwent training under the ISS-T program as part of the group. On November 21, 1998, she interrupted preparation due to maternity leave in connection with the birth of a child. She left maternity leave in April 1999 .
  • On May 12, 1999, she was again trained as a flight engineer of the main crew of the 1st Russian expedition to visit the ISS under the ISS-T program (EP-1). Until May 2000, together with Talgat Musabaev (callsign is “Derbent-2”), and from July 20, 2000, together with Viktor Afanasyev (callsign is “Derbent-2”).
  • In December 2000, she was removed from the main crew in connection with the reorganization of the crews: in connection with the appointment on December 28, 2000 of a new composition of the main crew (Talgat Musabaev - Yuri Baturin ).
  • In May 2001, she was appointed flight engineer in the 2nd (backup crew) of the 2nd expedition to visit the ISS along with Sergey Zaletin . From May to October 2001, she was preparing for a flight under the program of the 2nd Russian expedition to visit the ISS (EP-2). On October 21, 2001, she was a member of the backup crew of Soyuz TM-33 shopping mall (call sign Yenisei-2), duplicated by Konstantin Kozeev .
  • On May 27, 2004, by order of the head of the Federal Space Agency (FKA), she was relieved of her position as a test cosmonaut in connection with her retirement after years of service.

  • After graduating from college, she worked at Aeroflot Airlines as the co-pilot of the Tu-134 (5 years), and then Airbus A320 and Airbus A330 .

Additional Information

  • During one of the training flights, while performing aerobatics on a single Su-26, when overloaded at 9g, a plug in the oil tank was knocked out due to strong pressure. The lantern of the plane was flooded with a thick oil film. Without leaving the plane, landed him almost blindly [1] .
  • It flew on the Yak-52 , Yak-55 , Su-26 , Su-29 , L-39 , Yak-18T , Tu-134 , Airbus A320 and Airbus A330 aircraft .
