Biography
Born in the family of a Greek Catholic priest. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University in Lviv. Since 1834 he taught in Chernivtsi and Przemysl . Since 1848 - teacher of the Lviv Academic Gymnasium , since 1856 - Director of the second Lviv Gymnasium. In 1861 he became deputy inspector, and from 1864 - inspector of the gymnasium of Galicia .
Chairman of the commission for the creation of Ukrainian gymnasium textbooks (since 1862). In 1868-1881 he again worked as the director of the second Lviv gymnasium.
In 1878, the nobility was granted to him.
An activist of the Galician-Russian cultural and educational movement of Carpathian Russia.
Member of the cultural and educational "People’s House", member and vice-chairman of the Stavropigi Institute (1873-1876), headed the Galician-Russian mother . He was the first chairman of the Russian Pedagogical Society "Ridna Shkola" (Native School).
In 1861-1882, he was the ambassador (deputy) of the Galician regional Sejm and the Reichsrat (1873-1879).
Died suddenly while visiting Rome.
