The early years
Giovanni Piccolomini was born on October 9, 1475, in Siena , Siena Republic . He came from a patrician and noble family. Giovanni was the second child of Andrea Todeschini Piccolomini and Agnes Farnese. His other brothers and sisters were Pietro Francesco, Alessandro, Montania, Katerina and Vittoria, who was the daughter-in-law of Cardinal Alfonso Petrucci (1511). The great-nephew of Pope Pius II and the nephew of Pope Pius III . Other cardinals from this family were Celio Piccolomini (1664), Enea Silvio Piccolomini (1766) and Giacomo Piccolomini (1844) [1] .

Cardinal Joannie Piccolomini passed away on November 21, 1537, in Siena. Buried in the Cathedral of Siena [1] .
