Bertrand Halperin ( Bertrand I. Halperin ; born December 6, 1941, Brooklyn, New York) is an American theoretical physicist who is an expert in the field of condensed matter. Emeritus is a professor at Harvard University, a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA and the American Philosophical Society (1990).

Biography
He graduated from Harvard University (Bachelor of Physics, 1961). At the University of California at Berkeley, he received a master's degree (1963) and a Ph.D. (1965) in physics. In 1965-1966 postdoc of the National Science Foundation in the Paris Higher Normal School. In 1966-1976 Bella Labs employee. From 1976 to the present, professor of physics at alma mater, Harvard University, since 1992 , now emeritus; from 1988 to 1991, Head of the Department of Physics; since 2004, the senior fello of the .
Fello American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Physical Society.
