Geography
The village is located on the southeastern shore of Lake Peskovskoye , 12 kilometers (14 km by road) south of the district center of Kataysk , 190 kilometers (235 km by road) northwest of the regional center of Kurgan .

History
The village of Peshchanskaya (sometimes called Kataysky Sands to distinguish from other Peskovsky villages of the Shadrinsky district) was founded between 1719 and 1734. In the censuses of 1719 this village is not listed, and on the Land map of 1734 it is already indicated. The local historian Antropov in the book “Katayskaya Land” wrote: “According to legend, it was founded by the same Balins that after a while they founded the village, which was named after their last name - Balina”. In 1743, out of 22 yards, all were peasants assigned to the village of Cheremis and only one yard to the village of Borovoy.
Before the revolution, the village of Peskovskoye was the administrative center of the Peskovsky volost of the Shadrinsky district of the Perm province .
In July 1918, the White Guard authority was established. In July 1919, Soviet power was restored.
In 1919, the Peskovsky Village Council was formed. By the decision of the Kurgan Oblast Executive Committee No. 215 of June 29, 1964, it was renamed Verkhnepeskovsky Village Council .
On June 5, 1964, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Armed Forces of the RSFSR, the village of Peskovskoye was renamed Upper Sands [3] .
During the years of Soviet power, residents worked on the Sverdlov collective farm , then on the Petropavlovsk grain state farm .
Church
A stone church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God with a chapel in the name of St. Great Martyr George the Victorious was founded in 1837. The side church was consecrated in 1838, and the main one - in 1851. Now the building is partially preserved to the level of the first floor.
In 1892, a chapel was built in verst from the village in honor of the icon of the Grieving Mother of God. Not preserved.
In 1899, a chapel was built at the cemetery in the name of St. Theodosius of Chernigov . Not preserved.
School
In 1841, a school appeared in the village. Nowadays, the Municipal State Educational Institution “Verkhnepeskovskaya Basic School” of the Kataysky District of the Kurgan Region [4] .
Public Business Zone
In 1968, a four-sided obelisk was installed, crowned with a red five-pointed star, on which plates with the names of those who died in the Great Patriotic War are attached. Has a fence [5] .

- According to the 2002 census, 388 people lived, of which Russians - 84%.
- According to the 1926 census , 1,900 people lived in the village of Peskovsky (Sands), of which 1896 were Russians , 4 people were Zyrians ( Komi-Zyryans ).
