aserbeidschanus (toponymic) - β€œAzerbaijani” [1] .

Description

Wingspan 25-30 mm. The main background of the upper side of the wings in males is cobalt blue, sometimes with a violet hue. In the edge region there is a raid of rare dark scales. The female is brown. The orange spots near the females are small and quite often visible only at the rear corner of the hind wing. The underside of the wings is greyish-yellow, on the front wings with a beige tint. On the front wing there is a band from large black spots in light strokes, as well as a spot at the top of the central cell. On the rear wing black spots of small size [2] .

Habitat and habitat

Transcaucasia , Turkey , Northern Iran , Dagestan (Gimrinsky, Nukazl and Andy ridges, outskirts of Talgi). It occurs at altitudes from 600–800 to 2500 meters above sea level [1] .

Butterflies are locally found in dry, wide mountain gorges, preferring to stick to a site with blooming mountain-steppe vegetation, occasionally flying over large gravelly xerophytic steppes.

Biology

For a year one generation develops. Flight time is observed in late June to late August. Eggs are laid by the female in pieces on the leaves of the caterpillar forage plant - Astragalus ( Astragalus prilipkoanus ). Caterpillars of the third age overwinter [1] [3] .
