Korosten ( Ukr. Korosten ) is the nodal station of the South-Western Railway , which is located in the city of Korosten, Korosten district, Zhytomyr region of Ukraine .
History
In 1902, the Kiev – Kovel railway was built and the railway station was built through Iskorosten, Ovruch uyezd in the Volyn province of the Russian Empire , and a railway station was built, in 1905 the first railway station was built (architect A. V. Kobelev ) [1] .
After the outbreak of World War I, the importance of the station increased, from 1915 to 1916. Korosten-Zhytomyr and Korosten-Ovruch lines were built, after which the station turned into a junction station.
July 15, 1918 the railway workers of the Korosten railway junction were among the first to launch the All-Ukrainian strike of railway workers [1] .
During the Civil War, the station was damaged, but was later restored.
During the Great Patriotic War and German occupation, the station was damaged, but was later restored.
In 1983, a new station for 700 passengers was built at Korosten station (architects V. Shvets and V. Grishchenko, engineer L. Mishchenko) [2] .
In 1983 - 1985 the station was electrified.
In March 1995, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine included the Korosten station, as well as the locomotive depot and car depot located at the station, in the list of facilities whose privatization is prohibited due to their national importance [3] .
Current status
Two directions are electrified - to Kiev and Novograd-Volynsky - Shepetovka .
