Career
After high school, David entered the University of Technology of Tennessee , where he played baseball for the student team. He was selected by Baltimore in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft pick of the fifth round. In professional baseball, Hess made his debut with the Delmarva Shorburds, and began his first full season in 2015 with the Frederick Keyes team. During the season, he was transferred to the AA League in the Bowie Baysox, in which David became the winner of the Eastern League championship. He also spent the next two seasons at Bowie, after failing in 2016 to improve his game. At the end of 2017, Orioles included it in an expanded composition, protecting it from selection in the draft according to rule 5 [1] .
The start of the championship in 2018, David spent in the AAA League as part of the Norfolk Tides , where in four games in the starting lineup his ERA was 1.02 [1] . After the unsuccessful game of Orioles pitchers at the start of the season, Hess was recruited and on May 12 made his Major League debut in the game against Tampa Bay Flight , showing a good start . The team’s head coach Buck Showalter was pleased with the actions of the newcomer.
