Biography
Born in the town of Shirvinty, Vilna County, Vilnius Province . Graduate of the Vilna Rabbinical School (1873).
He entered the service as a Slavic Serbian rabbi on September 1, 1877. Acted as a rabbi until 1896. Since 1881 - a law teacher according to the law of Jewish faith at the city schools of Slavyanoserbsk and Lugansk [1] .
September 28, 1896 approved as rabbi of the Tambov Jewish chapel [2] .
On May 17, 1897, he was approved as Tambov provincial rabbi [2] . On July 2, 1904, he met Emperor Nicholas II as a member of the delegation and presented the Moiseevo Pentateuch from the Jewish communities of the cities of Tambov, Kozlov, Kirsanov and Borisoglebsk . The Sovereign Emperor graciously accepted the five-books and honored the visitors with a greeting. [3]
On January 1, 1905, the title of hereditary honorary citizen was granted, and in the same year he was approved by the governor as a lifetime provincial rabbi.
Acted as official rabbi in 1911 [4] and provincial rabbi in 1916 [5] . In 1917 it is referred to as a former rabbi [6] . The further fate is unknown.

- 1893 - Gold medal "For zeal" for wearing on the chest on the Stanislavsky ribbon.
- 1908 - gold medal "For zeal" for wearing on the neck on the Alexander ribbon.
- 1913 - Bronze medal "In memory of the 300th anniversary of the reign of the Romanov dynasty."
Acknowledgments
- 1897 - address of thanks from the Jewish community of Tambov for the establishment of a Jewish community and chapel in the city.
- 1900 - gratitude for his cares and training of the young Jewish generation is declared by the director of public schools in the Tambov province.
- 1900 - the commander of the Borisoglebsky reserve battalion is thanked for the efforts to raise the spiritual and moral condition of the lower ranks of Jews.
- 1904 - The Tambov district military commander expressed gratitude and appreciation for the tireless work in favor of a moral and physical uplift among Jewish soldiers of the local garrison.
- 1904 - the commander of the 217 Kromsky reserve regiment expressed his gratitude for the caring attitude to the lower ranks of the Jewish faith, for the teachings that contributed to the development in these ranks of a conscious attitude to their duties, as well as for all the work for the benefit of the Jews called up for the defense of the Tsar and the Fatherland .
- 1904 - The provincial leader of the nobility, Prince Cholokaev, congratulated the rabbi on the 25th anniversary of the beneficial activities.
- 1914 - the head of the 1st brigade of the cavalry reserve declared gratitude for the useful work to strengthen in the lower ranks of the 7th reserve cavalry regiment of the Jewish religion high concepts of official duty, honor and dignity [5] .

- Daughter - Rachel (born January 4, 1894).
- Son - Victor (born September 29, 1897). In 1916 he graduated from the Tambov Real School named after Emperor Alexander II . In 1916 he was enrolled in the Riga Polytechnic Institute .
