Benjamin Proud (born September 21, 1994 ) is a British swimmer , 2017 world champion, two-time European champion, medalist in European short-water championships. He specializes in sprint freestyle and butterfly stroke.

Biography
Benjamin was born in London on September 21, 1994 in the family of Nick and Sally Proud.
The family moved to Malaysia when he was five months old, and he grew up in Damansar, Kuala Lumpur. He has a brother, Oliver. He attended Alice Smith's school until the 12th grade.
In Alice Smith, he trained with professional Malaysian swimmer Francis Kiu. He represented the school in various competitions, participated in many tournaments in Southeast Asia.
In 2011, when he was 16 years old, he returned to England to pursue a swimmer's career, and joined Plymouth College. After graduation, he studied at the University of St. Mark and St. John, where he studied coaching.
At Plymouth College, Proud was coached by John Rudd. He later moved to training at the Energy Standard International Swimming Club in Turkey in 2017.
Career
2016
In 2016, at the European Aquatics Championships in London, he won two bronze medals, first 50 meters butterfly, then 50 meters freestyle [1] [2] .
The Englishman represents the UK in the 50m and 100m freestyle competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
2017
At the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, Benjamin qualified fourth in the 50m butterfly semifinal, but won gold in the final with a national record time of 22.75 seconds [3] . He won another bronze medal in the 50th freestyle with a score of 21.43.
2018
At the European Championships in Glasgow, in 2018, Benjamin became the European champion in the 50-meter freestyle with a score of 21.34, and the silver medalist in the 50-meter butterfly with 22.78 [4] .
