History
The Deportes Tolima was founded on December 18, 1954 by Manuel Rubio Chavez. “Tolima” was immediately admitted to participate in the Example of Colombia [3] . Despite the fact that the era of Eldorado in Colombian football is over, Chavez offered decent salaries to his players. In the early years, many Argentines played on the team, and she played in the form of "Racing" from Avellaneda , that is, in white and blue striped t-shirts. In 1957, “Deportes Tolima” finished second in the championship, which for a long time remained the best result in the history of the team.
The club won its first championship in 2003 by winning Klausura, four times finished second (in 1957, 1981, 1982, 2006 — Klausura years). In addition, the Deportes Tolima reached the semi-finals of the Libertadores Cup in 1982 - this was the biggest achievement in international matches for the team. In 2007, Deportes Tolima also participated in the Libertadores Cup , but failed to overcome the group stage of the tournament.
In the spring of 2018, Deportes Tolima won his second Colombian champion title by beating Atletico Nacional in the final match.
