Content

Classification

It was described in 2006 on the basis of molecular studies, before that it was part of the species Lepilemur dorsalis . In addition, it may be a junior synonym for Lepilemur tymerlachsonorum . [2]

Distribution

Endemic to the Ampasindava Peninsula in northwestern Madagascar . The exact boundaries of the range have not been clarified; it is believed that its area is less than 1260 km 2 . [one]

Lifestyle

It inhabits tropical dry deciduous forests, found both in primary forests and in secondary ones. The diet is mainly leaves. [3]

Population Status

The International Union for Conservation of Nature has assigned this species a conservation status of “In Danger” ( Endangered ). The main threats to the species are habitat destruction due to deforestation for agriculture and coal mining, as well as hunting. [3]
