Yoshio Hachiro ( 鉢 呂 吉雄 Hachiro Yoshio , born January 25, 1948 , Sintotsukawa , Hokkaido Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician and statesman. Member of the House of Representatives of Japan from the Constitutional Democratic Party and member of the House of Councilors in the Sejm (national legislature) [1] .

Political career
He was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1990 as an independent. Later, he first joined the Socialist Party of Japan and then the Democratic Party of Japan . In 2003, he left the Sejm to run for governor of Hokkaido, which was unsuccessful. In the same year, he ran for the 4th Hokkaido District House of Representatives and was elected. In September 2011, he was appointed Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in the office of the newly appointed Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda .
