Campsicnemus mirabilis could not fly, there is no information about life on trees, representatives found were, for the most part, found in dead cover .
Insects were found in 1902 on the Tantalus Peak slag cone , but they were not found in the 1980s. The cause or causes of extinction is not known for certain.
The species was originally described as Emperoptera mirabilis , but in 1964 was placed in the genus Campsicnemus . In 1997, Neil Evenhus returned him to Emperoptera [2] , but this was not confirmed by the rest of the taxonomists [1] .
