DescriptionThe total length reaches 70 cm. The head is small, flattened. The body is slim, cylindrical. The pattern consists of rings of red, black and white color around the body. Red and black rings are always separated by a narrow white stripe. This snake has adopted the color of poisonous coral aspids for protection.
LifestyleInhabits humid forests . Active at night. Leads a secretive lifestyle, hides under the leaves. It feeds on lizards , amphisbens and snakes .
ReproductionThis is an egg laying snake. The female lays up to 15 eggs, and buries them under the trees.
DistributionIt lives in the Amazon basin in Colombia , Venezuela , Ecuador , Peru , Bolivia , Brazil . It is found in Guyana , Argentina and on the island of Trinidat .
