Description

The total length of representatives of this genus ranges from 50 to 75 cm. The head is small, laterally compressed. The body is thin, slender. The coloration resembles coral snakes or aspids . They have bright transverse stripes, mostly red and white on a black background.

Lifestyle

Prefer moist tropical forests . Active at night. They feed on lizards , amphibians , small snakes . They use their resemblance to poisonous snakes to scare away enemies.

Reproduction

These are ovipositing snakes.

Distribution

They live in Central America and in the north of South America .
