Concolitan ( Latin Concolitanus ;? - after 225 BC) - the leader of the Transalpine Gauls (Gaesatae) of the III century A.D. e., one of the two leaders of the union of the Gallic tribes participating in the battle of Telamon with the Roman Republic .

Biography

Konkolitan was the leader of the Celtic tribe of the Gesat, living in Transalpine Gaul, near the Rodan River ( Rhone ). In 233 BC e. The Gallic tribes of the Insubra and the fighting , threatened by the enslavement of the Roman Republic , turned to the Gesat for military assistance, in return having promised a large amount of gold.

In 225 BC e., battles and insubra raised funds to pay hired gesat from Transalpine Gaul led by Aneroest and Concolitan to fight Rome. The mercenary army consisted of 50,000 foot soldiers and 20,000 horsemen.

The Konkolitan, along with Aneroest, broke into Etruria , which they plundered, and defeated the local Roman forces at the Battle of Fezal. During the march, the Gauls met with Roman troops under the command of consuls Guy Atilius Regula and Lucius Emilia Papa . The battle of Telamon marked the final conquest of northern Italy by the Romans.
