History

Regular television broadcasting in Veliky Novgorod began on May 1, 1956 with an amateur television repeater created by the efforts of enthusiastic engineers at the Volna Novgorod Radio Plant [1] . In Novgorod, the so-called small television center began to work, relaying the broadcasts of the Leningrad television center.

February 28, 1958 is considered the founding day of the Novgorod Radio Telecentre. At that time, the RPS was a television tower 150 m high and a one-story technical building.

March 1, 1958 began regular television broadcasting and broadcasting from the Novgorod RPS.

From 1963 to 1988, for the greatest coverage of the population of the Novgorod region with television and radio broadcasting, the radio television center actively developed a network of low-power repeaters.

In 1973, the Novgorod Regional Radio and Television Transmission Station was renamed the Novgorod Radio and Television Transmission Center.

In the 90s, NTV and Russia K channels were added to the central channels Channel One and Russia 1 broadcast in the region.

By 1997, the broadcasting network of the Slavia Broadcasting Company was built, subsequently transferred to broadcasting by RIK ( Russia 24 ).

In 1998, the Novgorod Regional Radio and Television Broadcasting Center was reorganized into a branch of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.

In 2001, the Novgorod Regional Radio and Television Broadcasting Center became a branch of RTRS.

From 2000 to 2016, networks for broadcasting analogue television channels Fifth Channel , Match TV, and NOT were created in the Novgorod Region [2] . Radio broadcasting was not far behind: Russian Radio , Autoradio , Dorozhnoe Radio and other radio companies came to Novgorod land.

Today, the Novgorod branch of RTRS includes four powerful workshops (Veliky Novgorod, Borovichi, Zaluchye and the Proletariat). The branch infrastructure includes 40 digital and analog broadcasting facilities [3] .

On December 16, 2014 the Novgorod branch of RTRS completed the construction of the broadcast network of the first multiplex. In total, the digital network of the region includes 35 broadcast facilities of the RTRS-1 package (the first multiplex). With the commissioning of eight new radio stations, more than 98.7% of Novgorod residents have the opportunity to receive the channels of the first multiplex in excellent quality and without a monthly fee. [four]

On November 29, 2017, the branch of the RTRS “Novgorod ORPC” and GTRK “Slavia” began broadcasting regional programs as part of the package of digital television channels RTRS-1 (the first multiplex) in the Novgorod region.

The regional programs of the Slavia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company are available in digital quality on 99.1% of the Novgorod Region residents on the Russia 1, Russia 24, and Radio Russia radio stations.
