Content
Etymology
The former name of the village is Malaykumlagy. The name comes from the genus Malaila [1] .
History
The village of Malay in 1913 according to the administrative-territorial division of the Elizabethpol province belonged to the Mursalsky rural community of Areshsky district [2] .
In 1926, according to the administrative-territorial division of the Azerbaijan SSR, the village belonged to the dajra of Haji-Alila of Aresh district.
After the reform of the administrative division and the abolition of counties in 1929, the Karadaglinsky village council was formed in the Agdash region of the Azerbaijan SSR .
According to the administrative division of 1961 and 1977, the village of Malay was part of the Karadaglinsky village council of the Agdash region of the Azerbaijan SSR [3] [4] .
In 1999, an administrative reform was carried out in Azerbaijan and the Karadaglinsky municipality of the Agdash region was established, which included the village [5] .
Geography
Malay is located on the banks of the Malayarch and Garibliarch canals.
The village is located 12 km from the center of Karadagly municipality, 13 km from the Agdash district center and 247 km from Baku . The nearest railway station is Lyaki.
The village is located at an altitude of 21 meters above sea level.
