Leopoldo Serantes ( Philipp Leopoldo Serantes ; born March 15, 1962 ) is a Filipino boxer , the representative of the lightest weight categories. He played for the Philippines boxing team throughout the 1980s, the bronze medalist of the Summer Olympics in Seoul , the champion of the Games of Southeast Asia, the silver medalist of the Asian championship, the winner and the medalist of many international tournaments.

Biography

Leopoldo Serantes was born on March 15, 1962.

In 1982, he joined the main team of the Philippine national team and performed at the Asian Games in New Delhi , where at the quarter-finals stage of the easiest weight category was stopped by the Japanese Kadzhuiko Abe .

A year later he became the bronze medalist of the Games of Southeast Asia in Singapore .

In 1984 he won the home championship of Southeast Asia in Manila.

In 1985, he received a bronze medal at the Presidential Cup in Jakarta, won a silver medal at the Asian Championships in Bangkok, won a victory at the Games of Southeast Asia in Bangkok .

In 1987, was marked by victory in the King's Cup in Thailand. He took part in the match meeting with the South Korean team, winning points on the Korean boxer O Kwang Soo .

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul - in the category up to 48 kg, he successfully passed the first three opponents in the tournament grid, while in the semifinal with a score of 0: 5 he was defeated by Bulgarian Ivaylo Marinov and thus received a bronze olympic medal.

After the Seoul Olympics, Serantes remained for some time in the top boxing team of the Philippines and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 1989, he had the opportunity to speak at the World Championships in Moscow , where, nevertheless, already in the first fight at the preliminary stage, he lost to the German Jan Kvastu . Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his sports career [1] .
