DescriptionThe total length ranges from 60 cm to 1 m. The head is wide. The eyes are large with vertical pupils. The body is slim, with smooth scales . The head is orange, the back end of the body can also be orange, sometimes pink, brownish or mustard yellow. A series of 24–48 dark spots stretching from one another stretches along the back.
LifestyleIt inhabits semi-desert savannas . Active at night. It feeds on lizards , small rodents and birds .
ReproductionThis is an egg-laying snake. The female lays from 6 to 20 eggs.
SpreadLives in Eastern and Southern Africa: Namibia , Botswana , Zimbabwe , South Africa, Zambia , Democratic Republic of Congo , Congo , Malawi , Tanzania , Rwanda , Burundi , Kenya , Swaziland , Mozambique .
