General Information
Hubert’s father, Krzyszek, is the CEO of an international company his mother, Zosia, the owner of a real estate company, was the Polish junior tennis champion; Hubert has a sister, Nick, who also plays tennis.
He started playing tennis at the age of 5 years. Favorite surface - hard, favorite city on the tennis tour - Melbourne . Idols in the world of sports in childhood were tennis player Roger Federer and basketball player Michael Jordan .
Sports career
He won his first futures tournament in his hometown in September 2015 and his first Challenger tournament in Poznan in June 2018.
In 2016, he participated in the first round of the Davis Cup against Argentina, replacing Jerzy Janovich , injured. In the same year, he actively played in Challenger tournaments and reached the quarter finals in Tampere and Trnava.
In 2018, he first got into the main round of the Grand Slam tournament at Roland Garros , where in the first round he defeated the American Tennis Sandgren [2] , but lost to the Croatian Marina Chilich [3] .
In August 2018, he managed to overcome the qualification for the U.S. Open Tennis Championship , and in the main draw he overcame the first round barrier in the person of Italian athlete Stefano Travagli, a player from the Apennine Peninsula refused to continue the fight in the fourth set. In the second round, he again met on his way the Croat Croat Marina Chilicha .
In January 2019, he won the Challenger series tournament in Canberra ( Australia ), defeating Ilya Ivashko from Belarus in the final. In February 2019, he reached the quarter-finals of the tournament in Acapulco ( Mexico ), but lost to Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, although in the first two sets he showed serious resistance and even equalized (1-1 after the second set).
At the tournament in Indian Wells (USA) he reached the quarter finals, where he lost to the Swiss Roger Federer in two sets with the same score 4-6, 4-6. In the course of the tournament, he knocked out Luc Puiia , Denis Shapovalov and Kei Nishikori from the fight.
At the tournament in Miami (USA) he reached the 1/16 finals, in which he lost to the young Canadian Felix Auger-Allassim in two sets.
In July 2019, Hubert participated in the Wimbledon tournament , where he reached the third round, but lost in a rather bitter struggle to the future winner of the tournament and the first racket of the world, Serb Novak Djokovic in four sets [4] .
At the US Open, he lost in the first round to Jeremy Chardy in five sets.
