Frederick Buldrini ( born Frederick Buldrini , also Fred Buldrini ; October 29, 1915 - September 13, 2005 , Island Park , New York ) is an American violinist.
The son of Umberto Buldrini (1879-1942), an Italian double bass player who settled in the United States in 1905, from 1912 the accompanist of double basses in the New York Philharmonic Orchestra , and since 1926 - in the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra .
He graduated from the Juilliard school . In 1936 he won the Naumburg Competition for Young Performers , after which he made his debut in the New York Town Hall.
In the late 1930s. was admitted to the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra , in 1944 he went to the United States Merchant Fleet Orchestra [1] , and at the end of World War II returned to the opera. In the 1960s and 80s He performed mainly as a session musician during the recordings and concerts of various jazz and pop musicians, including Frank Sinatra ( Frankly Sentimental albums, 1949 Trilogy: Past Present Future , 1980), Perry Como ( When You Come to the End of the albums Day and Saturday Night with Mr. C. , both 1958), Tony Bennett ( To My Wonderful One , 1960), Sam Cook ( Twistin 'the Night Away , 1962), Phil Woods ( Round Trip , 1973), Yana Ackerman ( Tabernakel album, 1973), Joe Beck ( Beck album, 1975), The Isley Brothers ( Inside You album, 1981), etc.
