History

In the middle of the XVIII century. in the Dzungaria, among the 24 outflows, there was one outflow of bogunut. At the time described, the Bugunut clan consisted of 2,000 families, which were controlled by the Zaisan appointed by the Khan. For resistance to the Manchu troops invading Dzungaria , most of the bogunuts were exterminated by the Qing authorities, and the survivors were deported to different places. So, in 1755, five Bugunut families were attached to zakhchin [2] . Subsequently, the ancient Bugunut, being part of the Oirat Union, especially during the Manchu conquests, decreased significantly and were scattered everywhere. The genus of the Bugunut among the Derbets and Zakhchins has the stigma of degrae. The ethnonym Bogunut was formed by attaching the plural affix -nүүd (nügüd) to the word bőgű (wise) - bögü + nügüd> bügünüd [3] .

Modernity

Currently, the Bugunuts live in the Mongolian derbets in the somons Sagil, Davst, Bhkhmөrөn, Khovd, Tarialan, ,mnөgov and Өlgiy Ubsunur aimag, somon Durgen and Manhan of the Kobdos aimag [4] . Bugunuts were noted in the composition of the zakhchins of Mongolia [5] , as well as among the southern Mongols : Baarins and Hashigtenes in the territory of Inner Mongolia [6] [7] .
